About My Shack

My shack consists of an ICOM IC-718 normally at 100 watts, powered by a MFJ-4225MV power supply, that goes into a MFJ-969 Deluxe Versa Tuner II antenna matcher and then into a 40 meter “hamstick dipole” at  25′ high (a temporary antenna solution).  I have an ICOM IC-706MKII I use for portable operation.  I have a Signalink for digital modes.

For 2 meters, I have a Yaesu FTM-3100 and use a J-pole my dad, KD7SXQ, made for me about 15 years ago out of copper plumbing. It works great. I also have a little portable 2 meter antenna I made out of some scrap 450-ohm antenna wire and a discarded piece of RG-8X coax. The antenna works perfectly!
