My shack consists of a Kenwood TS-430S normally at 100 watts and powered by a MFJ-4225MV power supply, going into a MFJ-949 Deluxe Versa Tuner II antenna matcher and then into an 85′ wire antenna connected to a 9:1 unun to allow me to use coax to go into my shack. I have an ICOM IC-706MKII for portable use when I get a chance to sneak off into the mountains.
For 2 meters, I use a little portable 2 meter antenna I made out of some scrap 450-ohm antenna wire and a discarded piece of RG-8X coax. The antenna works perfectly!
I use Slackware 64 Linux on a Dell Optiplex 160 for the shack computer. My logging program is xlog. It’s a really good general purpose logging program. I also paper log (“paper remembers so you can forget”). I use TrustedQSL for my LotW work.
New pictures of the shack will be coming soon.
